DESCRIPTION

My father, Ken Plummer, Sr., (1923-2012) was active as a photographer from his teenage years until he died in 2012. From 1943 to 1945 was a Photographer's Mate 1st Class in the US Navy and ran the photo lab at the Naval Air Station in New Orleans. Among his duties were aerial documentation of Navy ship wake patterns, to be distributed to our forces in the Pacific, and public relations photography for the base. There he met my mother, who was the editor of the base newspaper. On his off duty hours he explored the French Quarter, the cemeteries, and the parks of New Orleans. This portfolio is drawn from about 150 vintage prints in my posession from that era and his early postwar years in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania. There are also hundreds of 4x5 negatives and 4x5 Kodachromes from New Orleans and Pennsylvania, as well as his assignments from when he was a student at the School of Modern Photography in New York.
