to you.
Deputy President : Paul Schloss
Admin: Sam Shillig
Secretary: Bob Clements

I would like to wish all of our competitors
from Nippers to our Masters a very good and
successful competition season. It will go with-
out saying that you will do Kawana proud.
Thank you to everyone who was willing to give
the club a couple of hours out of their week-
end over the last two weekends to do the
bucket collection at the shopping Centre.
We did very well and raised some much
needed funds!
TELSTRA ASSISTANCE FUND GRANT:
I am pleased to announce we have been suc-
cessful with this grant and have received a
Neann Oxygen Kit, First
Aid Kit and 2 spinal col-
lars to date. These
items will definitely
compliment the First Aid

patrol.

Back to Kawana Day
The Back to Kawana Day at-
tracted a crowd of 100 people
over the course of the day with
a large contingent from the
1980-85 era. The club will make
this an annual event on the first
patrol day of the season with a
focus on attracting members
and supporters from the past 32years.

BLUE CARDS: SLSQ Circular
144.09.11
Managing active members
who do not hold a current
Blue Card/ whose Blue Cardhas expired.
It has come to SLSQs attention
that current noncompliance
with Blue Card requirements
may leave some clubs unable
to fulfill their operational and
patrolling requirements. SLSQ
has been in discussion with the
Commission and requests the
following.
That clubs follow up non Blue
Card holders as detailed above
as a matter of urgency.
That Patrol Captains or ViceCaptains who do not hold a
current Blue Card do not act in
this capacity until such time as
they hold a valid Blue Card or
Exemption Notice.
Any members over the age of
18 who do not hold a current
Blue Card or Exemption Notice
from 1 January 2012 must
cease patrolling until such time
as they hold a current Blue
Card or Exemption Notice
Managing patrolling members-
until 31st December 2011 clubs
may utilise patrolling members
who do not have a current Blue
Card provided the clubs ensure
that;
o Where possible members
without a Blue Card are as-
signed to senior patrols
o Patrol Captains must actively
manage patrols with non-Blue
Card members to ensure that
these members are not actingin a way that may constitute
regulated employment ie.
such as roving or tower patrols
with members under the age of
18.
o As above, members without a
current Blue Card must not act
in the role of Patrol Captain or
Vice Captain

The Development Application for the club
refurbishment has reached another im-
portant milestone this month with the
Public Advertising Stage commencing.
This is standard procedure in any applica-
tion and the statutory requirement is for
a sign to be placed at the front of the club
for a period of 20 working days.
Insite and Tomkins Developments have
been working feverishly to have the appli-
cation processed by Round 2 of the Re-
gional Development Australia Fund
Grants that are due for submission inNovember.
The Kawana surf club would like to por-
tray their sincerest thanks to these two
organisations that
have donated their
time and resources to
enable this application
to be produced at no
cost to the Surf Club.
Once we have received
the development ap-
proval the opportuni-
ties that will open up to the club by
way of seeking grants and sponsor-
ships are endless. The refurbishment
project will be deemed shovel
ready and as you may or may not beaware that is the principal require-
ment for all grants being awarded in
the current climate.
We will provide a further update
later in the year to keep you in-
formed as to the status of the appli-cation or should you require any fur-
ther information please do not hesi-
