Is concerned with what belongs to all people in common, to the community or society as a whole.

Communities have needs that must be met if they are to provide a healthy environment in which all members can thrive.

Social Justice

The Common

Good

It is the condition that enables all its members to flourish.

It is an ideal toward which every society must strive “valiantly” if it intends to be just.

What is the common good? P. 119

What each person must give to the community varies with the need of the community and the personal circumstances of each member.

What does this sound like?

Much will be required of the person entrusted with much, and still more will be demanded of the person entrusted with more. (Luke 12:48)

Uh oh..this means us

How can we work for the common good?

How can we harm the common good?

SOCIAL JUSTICE IS A WAY OF LIFE

The Christian way is to look at reality and respond with sensitivity to the well being of all and not just yourself.
