Learn to Develop Effective Just in Time Training

Identify and Prepare Supporting Materials Present Just in Time Training to POD Staff

WHY JUST IN TIME TRAINING?

Just in Time training is considered to be “as needed”, in which a group of individuals meet

and go through training materials and methods which they anticipate using once they return to their jobs. If this training is not used, however, it is forgotten and the individuals typically need to

be retrained. Just in Time training also refers to just enough

training at the right time, and in the right context. It is similar to on-the-job training.

To address potential health professional shortages during a disaster healthcare

volunteers may be required and must be trained.

DEVELOPING JUST IN TIME TRAINING

Things to consider: How much time will the actual training take Safety What will the staff need Learning Styles Supporting materials

HOW MUCH TIME WILL I NEED?

In an incident time is critical and limited. Often you may have only a few minutes for Just in Time

training, so it is important to deliver instructions quickly and succinctly.

Plan for 10-15 minutes – you may have more time than that, but don’t count

on it.
