• In 1951, Judge Thomas Graven had heard enough complaints about the pictures. Telling the Gazette, he was suffering from ‘mural turpitude’, he ordered them painted over.
• For more than 50 years, the murals have been lost to the cultural heritage of Cedar Rapids.
• They could be restored, or repainted returning an important part of our history and providing a cultural resource for the entire state.
