AdvisoryThis school year CHS is implementing an Advisory Period on Wednesday's from 9:07 -9:37am. The purpose of Advisory Period is to help students:

Establish a more personalized environment within the larger school community.

Assist with helping students meet the new Indiana Graduation Pathway requirements.

Assist with freshman transitioning to high school.

Build positive relationships with a trusted adult to help students with their academic needs.

Meet the social and emotional needs of our students.

Help students with their academic/college and career preparation.

SENIOR YEARSCHEDULING

January 15th – Course Description Sheet will be handed out during advisory. The individual appointment time with the counselor is listed on this sheet. Student must have courses chosen prior to the meeting with their counselor.

Course Description book is available on the CHS webpage under the Counseling Office link as well as on the student’s Canvas page

Skyward requests will be open from January 15th-March 20th

After March 20th, students may still request changes through their counselor through May 31st

After May 31st, schedule changes will only be made based on the policy outlined in the course description book

SENIOR YEARSCHEDULING

Course requests will be made via Skyward – Student Portal NOT Parent Portal

Skyward Log-in/Password: Forgot?? See Mrs. Smoker in the counseling office

Teachers will make recommendations for English, Math, and Social Studies

Students will pick enough classes to total 14 credits

List and prioritize 3 alternate classes

SENIOR YEARSCHEDULING

February 4th at 8am - Final Porter County Career Center Open House

--Field Trip to Boone Grove, Hobart, and Wheeler programs, as well the MAAC site.

--Applications are due January 31st for 2nd year programs

--Applications are due February 7th for 1st year programs

Academic HelpTutoring Tuesday EVERY Tuesday after school from 3:00-4:00 in the library

Tutor Lab B153 open from 7:00-3:30 daily

Dual Credit opportunities are available for many of our classes at CHS and CTE classes. A list of dual credit classes are available in the counseling office.
