Josiah and the Book of the Law

I. Josiah heard the words (v. 11).

Josiah Heard the Words

A. The Book was there to read. Deuteronomy 31:9-13

B. This also applies to the Bible. 2 Timothy 3:16-17

All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness,17 that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.

A. He wasn't sorry they were caught. 2 Corinthians 7:10

For godly sorrow produces repentance leading to salvation, not to be regretted; but the sorrow of the world produces death.

What are we going to do?

A. We have the Word of God! 1 Corinthians 13:10

But when that which is perfect has come, then that which is in part will be done away.

B. We are called to repentance! Acts 17:30-31

Acts 17:30-31

Truly, these times of ignorance God overlooked, but now commands all men everywhere to repent, 31 because He has appointed a day on which He will judge the world in righteousness by the Man whom He has ordained. He has given assurance of this to all by raising Him from the dead."

What are we going to do?

A. We have the Word of God! 1 Corinthians 13:10

B. We are called to repentance! Acts 17:30-31

C. Are we going to obey God's word? Matthew 7:13-14

Matthew 7:13-14

Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. 14 Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.
