completeaseveralrequirementsinalanguageotherthanEnglish.Oneoftherequirementsistocompleteanoralpresentationaboutagiventopic.Ninefifthgradestudentspresentedinfivedifferentlanguages.Wewereveryfortunatetohavetenvolunteerswhoprovidedvaluablefeedbacktothesestudentparticipants.Allstudentsdidanoutstandingjobontheiroralpresentationsandweareveryextremelyoftheirefforts.Onbehalfofourstudents,wewouldliketothankourvolunteersfor

Getyourstudenttoschoolontimethedayofthetest(s).Makeattendanceapriority,especiallyondaysthatyouknowCAASPPtestsaregoingtobeadministered.Makingsureyourstudentisatschoolwhenthetestistakenhelpstoensureyourstudentwillnotlosemorelearningtimebecauseheorshehastomakeupatestduringschool.

Makeanoteoftestdaysonyourcalendar–Thisisgoingtohelpremindyouandyourstudentwhentestingisgoingtotakeplaceandplanyourpreparationaccordingly.

Makesureyourstudentgetsagoodnight’ssleepthenightbeforethetest.Yourstudentisprobablygoingtoperformbetterifwellrested.Tiredchildrenhavedifficultyfocusingandareeasilyflusteredbychallenges.

Makesureyourstudenthasenoughtimetowakeupfullybeforegoingtoschool.Justasrestisimportant,soishavingenoughtimetogetyourstudent’sbrainengagedandingear.Ifthetestisfirstthinginthemorning,yourstudentcannotaffordtospendthefirsthourofschoolgroggyandunfocused.

Makesureyourstudenteatsahealthybreakfast.Yourstudentshouldeatanutritiousbreakfast.Avoidhighsugarcereals.Provideahigh‐protein,healthybreakfastforyourstudent.Childrenlearnbetteronfullstomachs,butiftheirstomachsarefullofsugary,heavyfoodsthatwillmakethemsleepyorslightlyqueasy,it'snotmuchbetterthananemptystomach.
