EPISTAXIS (NOSEBLEED)

Student should sit with head up and lean forward to avoid drainage into the throat

Have student apply firm but gentle pressure over the bleeding nostril for up to 10 min.

Apply a cold compressNotify parent or guardian if bleeding lasts longer

than 15 min.

IMPETIGO

• What it is:• A superficial bacterial infection of the skin most

common among children 2-6, but also common among those who play contact sports regardless of age.• Caused by a streptococcus bacteria that also

causes strep throat. • Two types bullous and nonbullous/blister and

nonblister, both caused by the same pathogen

• Pinkeye is a common name for conjunctivitis, a condition that causes inflammation and redness of the membranes inside the eyes.

What is Pink Eye?

SIGNS SYMPTOMS

Symptom: Eye Redness

Pink Sclera of the eye

Pathogens can be transmitted any time during the course of infection

Allergic symptoms may include itching erythema (reddening)

DIAGNOSIS

• Health Care Providers will conduct visual examination and may obtain eye culture to determine the exact nature of infection

TREATMENT

•Antibiotics, •eyedrops, •pills or ointment

EDUCATIONAL CONSIDERATION

• Students should be excused from school during the acute phase

• Students with allergic conjunctivitis should not be excused

• All children should be reminded to wash there hands regularly

• Pimples

EDUCATIONAL CONSIDERATION

• Good hand washing

• Contact parents to see if medical treatment started

• If compression does not work students might need antibiotics
