John Adams became the second president of the United States and was the first vice president under George Washington

Benjamin Franklin was the author of Poor Richards Almanack and was a scientist

George Washington was the commander and chief of the colonies army and later was unomusly elected the first president

James Madison supported the united states in the war and was the author of the United States Bill of Rights

New England includes Maine, Connecticut, Rode Island, Massachusetts, New Hampshire

• The southern colonies include Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina

• The Middle colonies include New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware
