Position  Title:   Foreman    

Reports  To:   Manager/Salesperson    

Job  Summary:     A  strong  leader  and  decision  maker  responsible  for  the  management,  safety  and  production  of  assigned  personnel.      To  efficiently  and  safely  manage  the  roofing  process  from  start  to  finish  and  ensure  a  high  level  of  quality  throughout.        

You  are  the  go-­‐to  guy  on  the  job  site  and  often  in  a  position  to  answer  many  questions.    You  are  looked  to  as  one  who  is  capable  of  giving  directions  that  have  purpose  and  a  final  decision  maker  who  can  be  trusted.    You  monitor  efficiency  constantly  and  assign  the  right  people  to  the  right  job.  The  overall  progress  of  the  job  comes  back  to  you  and  your  decisions,  so  make  them  count.        

Summary  of  Essential  Job  Functions:  � Arrive  ½  hour  earlier  than  crew  to  review  work  order  and  prepare  truck/trailer  � Ensure  your  crew  is  clocked  into  the  proper  job    � Make  sure  materials  listed  on  the  work  order  are  loaded    � Make  sure  proper  tools  are  loaded  and  in  working  order    � Make  sure  equipment  has  fuel  for  the  day  � Make  sure  trucks/trailers  are  assigned  to  drivers    � Direct  set  up  at  the  job  site  

o Trailer  placement  according  to  your  plan    o Placement  of  hoses,  anchors,  boards,  etc.    

� Develop  strategy  for  the  roof    o Assign  the  right  people  to  the  right  place  o Decide  when  to  do  what  o Provide  advice  to  Master  Installer  on  difficult  assignments    

� Quality  assurance  o Double  checking  the  work  of  others    o Checking  for  nail  placement/depth  o Checking  for  shingle  straightness    o Flashing  integrity    

� Monitor  system  air  pressure    � Final  Roof  Inspection  

o Caulking  o Flashing  detail  inspection    o GAF  40  point  inspection  punch  list    o Ensure  all  work  was  completed  per  work  order    

� Close  out  job  when  completed  o Complete  work  order    o Report  any  extra  items  used    o Report  any  damaged  items  to  manager/salesperson    

� Complete  knowledge  of  each  roofing  system  installed  at  Valley  Roofing  � Installation  of  all  products    � Install  fall  protection  systems    

o Rope/lanyard

� Etc.Excellent  problem  solving  capabilities    � Excellent  decision  making  skills    � Good  leadership  skills    � Capable  of  dealing  with  employee  conflicts  in  a  professional  manner    � Equipter  operator  or  monitor  � Man  lift  operator    � Company  vehicle  operator    � Proficiency  at  tool  operations  for  each  roofing  system  � Diagnose  tool  failures  

o fix  or  tag  them  out  of  service  � GAF  Steep  Slope  Certified    � Complete  knowledge  of  OSHA  safety  regulations    

o Location  of  safety  manual/MSDS  sheets  in  truck    � Be  readily  available  to  answer  questions    � Determine  break  times  � Determine  when  to  stop  work  � Provide  daily  progress  report  to  manager    

o Mid-­‐afternoon  everyday    � Enforcement  of  company  policies    

o Smoking    o Cursing    o Personnel  appearance  and  conduct  o etc.    

� Report  to  Maintenance  Supervisor  regularly
