•Jim Dine is an American painter who was born in 1935 in Cincinnati, Ohio. He is still alive and is 81 years old.

•Dine likes to choose a single theme or subject and work in a series.

In this series, Dine uses the

heart as a theme.The heart is a worldwide

symbol.Can you think of any other well known symbols?

Notice how he varies the

COLORS…

LINES…

TEXTURE…

and BALANCE in each work of art.

only paints ONE

sometimes TWO…

Color inside the heart•Pick a color that you like for the inside of your heart. You may choose a two colors in the same color family.•EX: Blue and Turquoise. • Add white and black to make a tint and shade

Blend heart with baby oil and q-tip

•Dip q-tip in baby oil.•Just a little!!•Blend all the colors INSIDE THE HEART!!

•Throw away your dirty q-tip, and get a fresh one.

Blend the colors with baby oil

•Are you using that fresh q-tip?

•You only need a little oil.

All done!!! Put your art on the drying rack. Throw away all used q-tips.
