Art Work That I ChoseTriangulated Chance • I chose this piece of

work because I liked the way it used simple lines to make different shapes and sizes.

• Since Hebert only started using software design in 1984 this piece is still at the beginning of his digital works.

Triangulated Chance

• Was made from ink on paper. • 7"x7" • It was Hebert’s first attempt to produce

drawings using a small table plotter.• He used short text to draw lines in a pattern

using red and black ink to create the triangles.• It is considered to be algorithmic art.

Algorithmic Art

• Algorithmic art is mostly visual art that is generated using algorithms.

• This means, basically, that Hebert had to create instruction for the computer to follow using mathematics and computer science.– Those instructions are the algorithms.

Who is Jean-Pierre Hébert?

• Jean-Pierre Hébert is an independent artist of algorithmic art, drawings, and mixed media.

• He is a pioneer in computer art• He merges traditional art

media and techniques, personal software, plotters, and custom built devices to create original pieces of art.

Drawing With the Mind

Digital Art 1980’s

• The earlier algorithmic art was drawn out using plotters controlled by computers.

• The act of the Person writing the program is what made the works “art.”
