Assessment
Examiners comment: adequate This student makes a reasonable attempt to deal with the task. All three content points are dealt with in a simple way, and only the second one (explain what happened in the class) is covered in any detail. The letter is also slightly short (92 words). The student could have given a more detailed description of the teacher or the students feelings. The meaning is generally clear, although the reader may not be sure what is intended by the last sentence. Is it an attempt at irony? The letter closes appropriately. The students control of language is generally sound. A fair range of structures is used, with few errors, and there are some linking devices (when, then, and). Some of the language is very effective (scary red hair, You can imagine what happened, she began to scream and shout), though excited isnt appropriate in the context.
Dear Jane,
I want to tell you about my new English teacher. We were waiting for our
old teacher, when she came into the class: scary red hair and green eyes, matched
with a yellow lemon dress. You can imagine what happened. We began to laugh and
laughed the whole hour! And when she heard us, she began to scream and shout,
her face became scarlat red! We really felt excited, she was so funny! But then,
she ran out, closed the door, and we didnt see her anymore! What a pity, she was
the best teacher we ever had!
Write me soon!
Tina
