Who is Charles of Bourbon ?
He was king of Naples and Sicily from 1734 to 1759. After that he became king of Spain until 1788 .
He transformed Southern Italy in an autonomous kingdom.
His objective was to elevate Naples to the rank of an important European capital.
To this aim he ordered the building of the Royal Palaces in Caserta, Capodimonte, Naples, and Portici.
What did he do ?
Charles of Bourbon deeply marked Southern Italy History , especially in Naples.
Here are some of the monuments he wanted for our region:The Royal Palace in Caserta;The Royal Palace of Capodimonte,Naples;San Carlo Theatre in Naples;Il Real Albergo dei Poveri,Naples.

The Royal Palace is an imposing, impressive building ,built in1752,for king Charles III of Naples to rival Versailles. If you do not have a ticket ,go first to the ticket office and purchase your ticket (€12-full ticket-€6 reduced ticket).Now you can select the route which best satisfies your interests and fits your trip times.
