2012 Iowa State Fair | Communication Participants
COUNTY EVENTS
4-H'ers compete in three categories of oral communication -- educational presentations, working exhibits, extem-poraneous speaking -- and one in visual communication. In educational presentations, the 4-H'ers teach their au-dience about a topic they selected and researched. In working exhibits, the 4-H'ers invite passers-by to try a skill they demonstrate. In extemporaneous speaking, the 4-H'ers prepare a speech in 30 minutes and deliver it to an audience. In poster communication, the 4-H'er conveys a message visually. Below are the individuals that partici-pated in the Communication Events at the 2012 Iowa State Fair from Jones County!
For the past six years, 4-H exhibits from the Iowa State Fair have been selected for display at the Extension 4-H Youth Building on Iowa State University’s campus. The exhibits brighten the conference rooms, hallways, and of-fice spaces. This year, all of the 4-H Communication posters that received Seals of Excellence at the Iowa State
Fair were selected for display. Congratulations to Sara Stevenson and Jenna Walleser on their excellent posters!
Check out the 2012 Communications Videos Online!
We are excited to share online video recordings of the 2012 Iowa State Fair 4-H Communications Educational Presentations! These can be found at www.extension.iastate.edu/4h/isf12.
2012 Iowa State Fair | Awardrobe Clothing Event Participants
The 4-H Awardrobe Clothing Event consists of three categories: Clothing Se-lection, in which a participant selects or purchases an outfit for a specific occa-sion; Fashion Revue, in which a garment is constructed, hand-knitted, ma-chine-knitted or crocheted by a participant; and The $15 Challenge, in which a 4-H’er creates an outfit for $15 or less from garage sales, consignment shops or clothing resale stores such as Goodwill or the Salvation Army. Pictured to the right are the Jones County Awardrobe Clothing Event Participants.
Shelby Holub, pictured on the left, modeled her outfit in the $15 Challenge. Mindy Salzbrenner, pictured in the center, participated in the Clothing Selec-tion. Darcy Tjaden, on the far right, constructed her garment and modeled for the Fashion Revue.
