Darcy and Thea attended the Sefton Learning Partnership Conference at theRamada Hotel in Southport, on Thursday. They took part in a presentation to
Headteachers and Governors from many Southport Schools. A number of schools have been working together in different groups trying to address local issues or concerns. Norwood has been a member of the group The Green Machines, with Holy Family,
Holy Trinity, Larkfield and St Philips. There have been meetings at the different schools and joint ventures, which have included planting bulbs at the Hospice and litter picking on the seafront, as well as developing projects at the individual schools.
School Council News
The work of The Green Machines will continue next year and they hope to extend their links with the wider community.

We can be contacted by phone on 01704 211960 or by email at
oldschool@norwoodmail.co.ukMrs Gore was invited to the Hilton Hotel, Park Lane, London and treated to
a fantastic meal and award ceremony as recognition for the educational
resources that she has uploaded to TES, (Times Educational Supplement). Rory Bremner hosted the event and Mrs Gore had a fantastic time.
TES had this to say about the awards,
"Not even a royal wedding is as good at lifting the gloom as hearing about
the inspirational work going on in our schools. While the economic downturn is squeezing budgets everywhere and more cuts are on the way - schools across the UK are still managing to push the boundaries. Now in their third year, the TES Schools Awards or Tessas aim to celebrate this
work. This year’s awards attracted a record number of entries, extolling the achievements of teachers, school leaders, support staff and pupils
alike. If there is one principle underlying the awards it is that success is a
team effort. It is rarely the product of one person acting alone."

Four of Norwood’s best writers from Years 5 and 6 were chosen to attend a Writing Activity Day at Kew Woods Primary School, with other children from the Southport
area.
During the day, one of the tasks given to the children was to write a film review and at the end of the day there was an awards ceremony and awards were given for the
best pieces of writing.
The standard of work produced was amazing and the teachers commented on how it had been a very difficult task to decide upon the winners.
Mr Dumbell was overjoyed when he realised that there was a winner from Norwood!Hannah Tear from 5B won an Oscar for her fantastic film review.
Well done Hannah! Keep up the good work.
