MISTRAS AST Scanner (Intrinsically Safe)MISTRAS Group provides comprehensive tank testing programs adhering to API-653 in-service and out-of-service inspection guidelines.
Our customized, non-intrusive tank inspection programs—which include the use of an intrinsically safe (IS) scanner—maximize safety by allowing owners to determine the relative condition of their storage tanks without sending technicians into the asset.
The scanner (12” tall, 15” long, 9” wide) is primarily used for ultrasonic thickness testing, and can be deployed from the roof or shell manways (if the product is below the manway’s elevation). Using a customized path for each client’s individual inspection criteria, technicians manually direct the scanner across
the tank floor. Once the necessary condition data is collected, it is then analyzed off-site. Automatic navigation solutions and video recordings are also available upon request.
This proven inspection method is certified as Intrinsically Safe in Class 1 Div. 1 Group D locations.
The in-service scanner is a reliable, environmentally-conscious, and safe tank inspection method. It allows owners to postpone a full out-of-service inspection until a more appropriate time, reducing costs, downtime, and lost profits.
