Irish Family History Foundation Pay-Per-View System (PPV).

Th e 34 members of the IFHF have created an extraordinary resource that constitutes over 20 Million genealogical records for all counties in Ireland. Th e Irish Family History Foundation wishes to implement a solution that will allow the public to access this resource through a secure online pay-per-view system. Th e system shall allow the public to search an index of the records and to view the complete records in real time once payment has been made.

Th e PPV system has been designed specifi cally to meet the requirements of the Irish genealogy market and in particular the Birth, Death and Marriage records held by the Irish Family History Foundation. Th is allows visitors to the IFHF website to search and pay for access to each centres computerised records in real time. Th e PPV will be launched in early October 2006 and it is hoped all thirty-four IFHF Centres will be online within eighteen months. Centres not online can be contacted directly and fully trained staff can manually access the records for clients.

Our online Pay Per View research service is available 24/7 on our website: www.irish-roots.net

Further information on IFHF member centres and their services can be found at www.irish-roots.net or, by contacting;

Established in 1990, the IFHF is an all island network of thirty-four county based family history research centres that are situated throughout the island of Ireland. Th e IFHF aims to provide a comprehensive genealogy research service involving the participation and co-operation of local communities, public bodies and the major churches.

Each IFHF designated centre is responsible for the collection of primary genealogical records and indexing these records onto a computerised database for a specifi ed catchment area. Th ese records include:

Church Records Civil Records Census Returns Griffi th’s Valuation Tithe Applotments Graveyard Inscriptions

in addition to various other supporting genealogical material.

Th ese centres by undertaking this mammoth task have created a precious resource, often referred to as a ‘National Treasure’, to be cherished and valued by generations to come. To date, over twenty million records have been successfully computerised.

Th e majority of centres welcome visitors throughout the year, although it is recommended to check opening times and availability of our fully qualifi ed staff before you wish to visit. If considering a visit to a centre, please note the computer database belonging to the centre can only be accessed by the trained researchers based in each centre.
