Learning Disability (LD) is aninability in children to learnand understand things in astandard manner or in a
typical manner
They will not be able toconcentrate on their variousactivities and understand the
aspects concerned andoutcomes expected, so theaccomplishment from that
activity can be compromised
So when they indulgethemselves in the same
activity again there may notbe any improvement in their
accomplishments oroutcome of the activity
We may presume that thediminished outcome is due to
their lack of interest, obstinacy, or some attention

MOST OF THE TIME IF A CHILD ISCONTINUOUSLY DEMONSTRATING AN
INABILITY TO COPE UP WITH AN ACADEMICINSTRUCTION GIVEN FROM AN
EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTION WE TERM ITAS LEARNING DISABILITY
This disability may be manifested as aninability to read some words correctly, to
speak some words aptly or to write some ormany words in an expected style or to solve
an arithmetical problem promptly
There’s a striking difference between themeanings of the term “Learning Disability”.
To a layman the meaning is backwardness in studies.
But to a professional it’s a well-defined andclearly classified set of problems in
understanding and learning studioussubjects in its expected manner as
a normal child.
The reasons for this problem and the waysit’s manifested may be myriad. It all fallsunder the subjects of discussion of the
study of Learning Disability.
Learning Disability, Learning Difficulty and
Learning Disorder are threeterminologies often used
interchangeably even though theyhave three distinct meanings and
purposes

Disability refers to significantlearning problems in an academic
area. These problems, however, arenot enough to warrant an official
diagnosis

Learning disorder, on the otherhand, is an official clinical
diagnosis, whereby the individualmeets certain criteria, as
determined by a professional(psychologist, pediatrician, etc.)

The difference is in degree, frequency, and intensity of reported symptoms
and problems, and so the two should not be confused

The National Joint Committee on Learning Disability (NJCLD) defineit as a heterogeneous group of disorders manifested by significant
difficulties in the acquisition and use of listening, speaking, reading, writing, reasoning or mathematical abilities. These
disorders are intrinsic to the individual and presumed to be due toCentral Nervous System Dysfunction.

Even though a learning disability may occur concomitantly withother handicapping conditions (e.g. sensory impairment,
intellectual disability, social and emotional disturbance) orenvironmental influences it is not the direct result of those
conditions or influences.
