Course Information

Class meets on Tuesday and Thursday Section 202 meets 8:30 am – 10:20 am Section 204 meets 10:30 am – 12:20 pm

Required Items

Book Microsoft Office 2010 Introductory by Shelly &

Vermaat Available at Owen’s Campus bookstore

Software (if you wish to work from home) Office 2010 w/Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access

Office Professional Academic Version is available at a special student price (see link on blackboard)

Materials USB flash drive – any capacity Headphone – Ear buds for an IPOD will work

MyDtcc Portal Log-In

Username: on the top right side of your bill under your “Major”

Password: your birth month, day, and last 4 digits of your SSN in this format: MMDDNNNN

From home: http://my.dtcc.edu Campus computers use the same

username and password as blackboard

Rules

No food or drinks at the computers

No phone calls or text messaging during class

No IPODs or music during class

Cheating Will Not Be Tolerated

Helping another student with tutorials and assignments by showing them

Helping another student during a test or quiz

Giving an assignment to another student

Turning in someone else’s work

Both giver and receiver will be penalized

Allowed NOT Allowed

Course Work

Chapters covered: Introduction to Computers Office 2010 and Windows 7 Word 2010 – chapters 1, 2, and 3 PowerPoint 2010 – chapters 1, 2, and 3 Excel 2010 – chapters 1, 2, and 3 Access 2010 – chapters 1 and 2

Course Work

Each chapter will have: Tutorial 2 assignments (the first chapter only has 1

assignment and the second chapter has no assignment)

Quiz – multiple choice questions May be taken a maximum of 3 times

Each Unit (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access) will have a skills exam

All tutorials, assignments, quizzes, and skills exams will be submitted through blackboard

Attendance

You may work on your assignments outside of class

You are expected to attend class unless you have submitted your work prior to class time

You must attend class to take Skills Exams

Attendance is not part of your grade but could affect your financial aide if you do poorly and don’t attend class

Late Penalties

Late assignments will receive a 2 point per day late penalty

Assignments and quizzes will be removed from blackboard 2 weeks after the due date and will no longer be accepted

Missed skills exams will have to made up by appointment and may receive a 10 point penalty

You may work ahead, all assignments are available on blackboard
