All of the groups we are looking at today are vertebrates except insects.

Amphibians Cold-Blooded

Live both on land and in water

Skin is moist

Found in the tropics

They are vertebrates

Most live in or near water or damp places

Fish Breathe through gills

Most lay eggs (although sharks give birth to live young)

Most are cold blooded

Covered with scales

Live in water

Mammals The most intelligent

animals

They have fur or hair

Have four limbs

Warm-Blooded

Breathe air through lungs

Birds There are thousands

of different kinds of birds

Have feathers

Have a beak or a bill

Lay eggs

Warm- Blooded

Insects Have six legs when fully grown

The body of an insect has three parts› Head› Thorax› Abdomen

They have their skeletons on the outside of their body

Have small openings in their bodies to breathe

Most go through metamorphosis

Reptiles Have dry, scaly skin

Cold-Blooded

Most lay eggs

Young look like their parents
