COVID-19 Safety Training & Screening for students

► All Camosun students enrolled in a course with any on-campus or face-to-face component must complete the online COVID-19 Safety Training and Initial Symptoms Self-Assessment before attending campus.

► Access the questionnaire and declaration form, and complete the BC COVID-19 Symptom Self-Assessment Tool

Medical InsuranceInternational students are required to have medical insurance for the entire duration of their studies in Canada

► During the first three months upon arrival, International students in Camosun College are enrolled in Guard.me that covers medical services to address new and unexpected illness or injury (COVID included).

► If students are planning to stay in British Columbia (BC) for more than six months, they are eligible for the BC Medical Services Plan (MSP) after three months living in the province.

► You MUST apply for MSP as soon as you arrive in BC.

How to Apply for MSP

IMPORTANT: Your coverage will be from your arrival date in CanadaYou must inform us as soon as you have your arrival date confirmed.

Student Health & Dental Plan

All Camosun students are offered extended health and dental benefits through the Camosun College Student Society (CCSS)

This benefit is part of your ancillary fees and cover some health and dental services that are not covered by the provincial Medical Services Plan (MSP).

For detailed information about this benefit and on how to obtain your benefit card, please visit CCSS Student Health and Dental plan website.

Tuition and Fees

► Any changes you make to your registration for a specific semester might affect the fees you are charged with depending on the date you make these updates. Please familiarize yourself with payment deadlines relevant to your fees.

► Payment methods

Registration► Our office registers students in

courses for their first semester of studies.

► Don’t attempt to change your schedule, because we may not be able to put you back into courses.

► You can check your schedule on CAMLINK.

► Please keep your home address and phone number updated.

► Students will be in charge of their registration for future semesters.

You might need a letter to:

What to expect when the Canada Revenue Agency contacts you

To ensure your safety please carefully read these suggestions from the Canadian Anti-fraud Center:

• DO NOT be afraid to request further documentation from the caller so you can verify the validity of the company.

• DO NOT disclose information about your finances, bank accounts or credit cards (not even the credit card expiry date).

• DO NOT be afraid to hang-up the phone.• DO NOT send money to an institution or someone you do not know.

Abbreviation and Number They identifies the course.

Example: ENGL (Subject Code) 151 (Course Number)The abbreviation and number appear on timetables, course registration forms and transcripts.

Timetable Definitions

► Online Asynchronous: no set meeting schedule (asynchronous);

► Online Synchronous: online scheduled dates/times (synchronous). If applicable, room provided for virtual remote;

► Blended: on-campus and online; location listed as campus-blended; scheduled dates/times with on-campus showing bldgs/rooms;

► On-Campus: location listed as campus; scheduled dates/times/bldgs/rooms

Make sure to double check what time the courses

will be delivered in your time zone, if

you are not in Victoria, BC.

Your instructors are committed to providing a strong framework for your academic skills and to deliver course content.

You need to know:

▪ Your instructor’s name and office location

▪ How to contact your instructor

▪ Where to find your course outline

▪ How to use D2L (access one week before classes start)

▪ How to reach out to your instructor if you need support. All the instructors will email their students in the beginning of the semester to inform what the curriculum is and what material will be need.

LEARN: Instructors

Access to D2L opens one week prior to the first day of classes. If students abroad encounter issues connecting, please contact our ITS dept.

We are currently not offering face-to-face tutoring although you can book an online appointment at the Writing Centre, Math Help is available through live chat on Microsoft TEAMS - email a tutor to

connect, and Science Help is available through Blackboard Collaborate.

Help Centres provide academic support for English, Math, and Science

WriteAway is another writing support service for Camosun students. Submit your assignment or paper and then a writing consultant will connect with you. You can submit your paper 24/7, but the wait time for response may vary. Please note, we cannot proofread or edit your work.

Counselling Services provides personal, Career and Educational Counselling

Centre for Accessible Learning provides services for educational accommodations for students with documented disability

• A course that must be taken before a higher level course

• Must achieve a C grade or higher

• Courses you need to take at the same time as your desired course

• A standard point system from A+ to F

• Grade Point Average. Each letter grade is assigned a point value which is called the Grade Point.
