JOIN IN! IT’S PARTY TIME!
Easter Day – Wow! It is only the beginning! This
tremendous fifty-day feast gets starts on Easter Sunday. In
our Christian Church Year, this is actually a wonderful
fifty-days of joyful feasting; and Easter is, of course, the
high point of our Church Year! So, it makes wonderful
sense is that we would enjoy a party for such a long period
of time. Looking at the Gospel, isn’t the main point to
prepare us for eternity and for the celebration of this
wonderful feast?
We find preparation in our Lenten fast - not including
Sundays - that lasts forty days. Easter, in turn is fifty days.
Fasting soon goes away and now the “Great Feast of the
Lamb” will take its place for, as the Hebrews would say, “ages of ages”. And this can be interpreted as eternity!
So, let us now let this wonderful party begin!

HOSPITALITY IS ALWAYS A CHRISTIAN ACT AND OUR SAINT PETER’S COMMUNITY HAS ALWAYS BEEN KNOWN TO TREAT OUR
VISITORS WITH KINDNESS & RERESHMENT AND TO CELEBRATE SPECIAL DAYS. THANK YOU EVERYONE FOR SUPPLYING SNACKS!
DOES EASTER HAVE A SPECIAL GREETING? SURELY IT MUST! AT CHRISTMAS WE ADDRESS PEOPLE WITH A HEARTY MERRY CHRISTMAS! AT
EASTER WE HAVE HEARD PEOPLE SIMPLY SAY HAPPY EASTER, BUT WHAT WE SHOULD REALLY USE IS
THE “PASCHAL GREETING”, OR SOME WOULD CALL IT THE “EASTER ACCLAMATION” OF, ALLELUIA
CHRIST IS RISEN INDEED! THIS SHOULD RETURNED WITH THE JOYFUL RESPONSE OF THE LORD IS RISEN
INDEED, ALLLELUIA!
Warm greetings in the great name of our Lord and savior, Jesus Christ. I trust
that you are keeping on keeping on, living in the wonder of the salvation that
our savior won for us on the cross. We are now in the season of Lent, preparing
ourselves for the celebration of the memorial of our redemption. We do this in
every Eucharistic celebration, but the day of Easter is the climax of all Christian
celebration of our salvation.
For this month of April, I wish to encourage every member to consider crafting
a rule of life for oneself, as we are learning in the Adult Sunday School class at
church. By the way, although it is called a “rule,” please don’t think of it as a list
of prohibitions of don’t do this, don’t do that. A rule of life is a signpost, a
framework for growth. It guides what one chooses to do as one seeks to stay in
close relationship with the Lord. Living under a rule of life inclines the heart
toward God and helps a person keep faith alive in the bustle and hassle of life.
The rule of life is a commitment to live life in a particular way. It is a way of walking the ancient paths following
rhythms and practices that move us closer to God.
Spiritual fathers and mothers of old gave the church spiritual disciplines which, when practiced routinely,
slowly but surely incline an individual’s life in a certain direction. Those fathers and mothers divided the
disciplines into three categories:
1. Inward disciplines—prayer, meditation, fasting, and study. These are aimed at offering avenues of
personal examination and change.
2. Outward disciplines—simplicity, solitude, submission, and serving. These form our inner selves and mold
us to serve the world to make it a better place.
3. Corporate disciplines—confession, worship, guidance, celebration, remembrance, commitment,
reconciliation, presence, witnessing. These serve to bring us nearer to God and to one another.
How to get started:
• Pray and listen to God and become aware of who you are and the special expression of Christ that you
are and how you can live that out in your family, in your church, and in the world.
• Incorporate silence and tranquility into your life and avoid haste.
• Exercise caution towards use of technology. In the digital age one can spend disproportionate amounts
of time on the cell phone, TV, iPad, and other electronic gadgets. Approach these with intentionality to
put them to good use but not to become an addiction that robs you of time and attention to do more
important things.
• Fellowship—find other men and women who have the same resolve of heart you have to follow Christ,
people who refuse to swallow wholesale the proposals of the culture around you.
• Leave time, from time to time, for you to STOP, to GAZE and to WONDER. Do this regularly, whether
daily, or weekly, or monthly.
Examples of rules of life:
During his time as a seminary student, Pope John Paul XXIII had the following elements in his rule of life:
• When rising: spend 15 minutes of silent prayer and 15 minutes of spiritual reading.
• Before sleeping: a general examination of conscience followed by confession; then identifying issues
for the next morning’s prayers. • Arrange the hours of the day to make the rule possible, setting aside specific time for prayer, study,
recreation, and sleep (balance)
• Making a habit of turning the mind to God in prayer.
Martin Luther King Jr created a rule to steer the non-violent protests of the civil rights movement. Here’s a sample of the ideas he included:
• Meditate daily on the teachings and life of Jesus
• Remember always the non-violent movement in Birmingham seeks justice and reconciliation, not
victory.
• Walk and talk in the manner of love, for God is love.
• Pray daily to be used by God in order that all might be free.
• Observe with friend and foe the ordinary rule of courtesy.
• Seek to perform regular service for others and the world.
• Refrain from violence of fist, tongue, or heart.
• Sacrifice personal wishes that all might be free.
• Strive to be in good spiritual and bodily health.
Now your turn to write your own rule
It is now time for you to write your own rule of life. Take time and think of the kind of person you are and
whom you want to become. Then think of the kind of things or practices you can incorporate in your life to walk
you towards the person you want to evolve into. Let me dare advise that whatever practices you choose, prayer
should be one of them. Pray daily. During prayer, you can even just sit before the Lord in thanksgiving for your
life. Pray for God’s kingdom to come in you, your family, your friends, your neighbors, your co-workers, your
country, and in the world.
And remember your rule is a living document. You can change it and modify it, add to it or delete from it, any
time in any way. The idea is to give yourself handles to guide your life towards a certain direction of your choice,
so that you don’t live a free, unregulated, unguided, uncontrolled life.
Friends, let us return to the ancient paths of our faith that our spiritual ancestors walked in. These practices
helped them then to walk faithfully with God in times that were morally chaotic. The same practices will help
us remain faithful to God in our day in which secular culture is becoming increasingly hostile towards
Christianity. Happy month of April.

There are nearly as many churches in
Las Vegas, Nevada, as there are casinos.
It is not unusual to find a casino chip
placed in the Sunday offering plates. The
Churches send the chips to a nearby
Monastery where monks sort them, take
them back to the casinos and get cash in
return. The brothers who do this task are
referred to as chip monks.
An Egg Hunt will be held following
the service on Easter Sunday! All
children are welcome to join in the
fun! The Egg Hunt will be run by
members of our new Teen Youth
Group.
Join us on Saturday
morning, April 13th, at
10:00AM, to make Palm
Crosses for the next day’s Palm Sunday!
It is a tradition at St Peter’s Anglican Church to have a very special “Easter Sunday Flower Cross”. The cross
is a wire formed structure where fresh cut flowers are placed in the wire openings to create a multi-colored
cross for the Resurrection of Christ that is beauty beyond compare. Pictured above are several of the crosses
from previous Easters; and, as can be seen, no two crosses have ever been alike.
Easter morning parishioners usually begin arriving early for the service and they bring freshly cut flowers for
the cross. The wire frame cross is placed in the narthex of the church so parishioners can place their flowers
with care. At the beginning of the service the cross is then carried forward to the altar area where it remains
throughout the service.
Sunday morning, April 21st, don’t forget to bring your flowers!

BEFORE THE STATIONS
O merciful Saviour, grant that while we follow Thy blessed footsteps along
this Way of Sorrow, our hearts may be so touched with true contrition
that Thou mayest turn our weeping into gladness by giving us remission of
all our sins. Amen.
It Is Faith Day at the Colorado Rockies and the date is Sunday, August
18th, with a 1:10PM game start as they take on Miami! This year there
will be a musical guest and she will be GRAMMY-nominated singer and
songwriter, Kari Jobe!
This is the 15th year that the Colorado Rockies have provided this great
day of fun with faith organizations from the Rocky Mountains joining in.
The last time St Peter’s Anglican Church participated in this exciting baseball event was in 2016. On that day the church had its name placed
on the Coors Field Scoreboard in big letters! Looks like it is time to get
our baseball gear ready again as the Rockies are offering group discount tickets when we have 20 or more
participants.
Ticket prices will range from $15.00 to $66.00 per seat, and the entire group will sit together. Of course, the
higher the price per seat the better the seat. Do you have any interest in participating? If yes, indicate your
interest on the Rockies poster at church and indicate how much maximum you are willing to pay for a seat. If
we have twenty of more parishioners interested in attending this game we will go ahead and make a church
reservation. There is no deadline, but as you can imagine, seating will fill-up!
THE KIRK’IN OF THE TARTAN (TARTAN SUNDAY) HAS BEEN POSTPONED UNTIL SUNDAY, MAY 5TH!
If you are not able to serve on the assigned date, please find a replacement and let Mary
Ann Llewellyn know (970-674-1254) by Wednesday of the assigned week.
