ABOUT THE CONFERENCE
THEMES
As we are aware, only a small percentage of Specially Abled (Divyang) children have facilities to receive education in our country and the percentage of those receiving technical education and vocational training is even worse. The methods used for educating and training are still traditional and old and the modern-day science and technology has yet to create an appropriate impact in the area of the education of the disabled. Further, since the untouched population is large, it is imperative to think of various ways and means by which the Education and Vocational Training need be planned in future. Rehabilitation facilities for Deaf are also inadequate in India. IIT Roorkee felt it necessary to brainstorm at global level on various issues on effective methods of teaching and rehabilitating the Deaf on modern and scientific lines. Therefore, this conference is being organized on the following themes.
1. Education and Rehabilitation strategies - issues, challenges and case studies of individuals/ organizations
2. Development of modern educational technology and production of educational/training material. Teaching aids, Computer aided instructions and Self instructional modules etc
3. Development of appropriate curricula4. Techniques for improving communication skills – Modes of

Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee (IITR) is among the foremost of institutes of national importance in higher technological, science and management education and research. Since its establishment, the Institute has played a vital role in providing the technical manpower and know-how to the country and in pursuit of research. The Institute completed 150th year of its existence in October 1996. On September 21, 2001, an ordinance issued by the Government of India declared it as the nation's seventh Indian Institute of Technology.
Department of Management Studies (DoMS) was established by the Institute in 1998 to reflect the needs of dynamic business and economic scenario and to enable its students to face the challenges of corporate world. It takes the onus to prepare a breed of managers who have the courage, skills and resilience to excel in the corporate world through 2 year full-time residential MBA program. In its quest to promote excellence in management, the department also offers autonomous doctoral programs. The Ph.D. programs prepares young men and women for challenging opportunities in teaching, research, and consulting. The faculty members of the department equipped with deep and diversified knowledge are actively involved in research, consultancy, FDPs and industry training. The department has won many national and international awards and honors to shine with full glory in international landscape. Students of DoMS are actively involved with Anushruti by organizing an annual event named “Bhor” wherein students of Anushruti showcase their talents. Students of DoMS also help Anushruti in fund raising and for creating public awareness about deafness and deaf education.
Anushruti Academy for the Deaf (AAD), formerly known as Roorkee School for the Deaf, was established on the campus of the then University of Roorkee (Now IIT Roorkee) in November 1989. AAD is running as a social initiative of IIT Roorkee. A Management Committee, appointed by IIT Roorkee, which

consists of faculty members of IIT Roorkee, administers the school. Anushruti do not receive any government aid and is a Community Based Model wherein donations from the alumni, individuals and organizations help support the programs of this academy. It runs programs for the Deaf children starting from kindergarten to grade 12 of school education. Along with, it provides vocational programs like painting, cooking and catering, tailoring, computer education & gardening etc. This is the only such unique institute in India which exists on the campus of a high-tech institute like IIT Roorkee. The faculty and students of IIT Roorkee undertake research in the areas of disability, deafness, education of the deaf and the rehabilitation strategies etc. whereby IITR students earn their M.Tech. and Ph.D. Degrees from their core departments. Deaf students of AAD and its infrastructure serve as a Live Workshop to motivate and promote such research work. In addition, AAD has an audiology and speech development lab which gives services free of cost to any Deaf or Hearing Impaired individual in the society.

Step 4: On page of Terms and Conditions, click the check box and proceed.
Step 5: On the next page, using drop down menu select “Uttarakhand” for state of Corporate / institution.Select “Educational Institution” for Type of Corporate/ Institution. Then press “Go”.
Step 6: On the next Page, select “Dean SRIC CONF” using drop down menu under the category Educational Institution Name. – Press submit
Step 7: On Next Page, select IIT Roorkee Conference. A form will appear, where you will fill in your basic information such as Name, mobile number, email. Use conference Code “CONFR-105-MSD”. – Press submit. Now verify details and confirm this transaction on the next page – click confirm
Step 8 : If possible, use your ATM Debit card for payment of fee, as it has minimum transaction charges.
Step 9: SBI page will appear and in which you type your ATM card details. Then check OTP in message in your mobile. Enter OTP and press button to make payment.
Step 10: Please save the E-receipt/ transaction success notification and send it alongwith Conference Registration Form.

Prominent Speakers shall be presenting their keynote addresses on special themes during the conference.
During the conference an OPEN FORUM will be arranged for a free discussion on various aspects related to the themes. If you have any ideas or suggestions for the same, please send a note of about 200 words by 20.02.2020 so as to enable us to reserve a time slot for you to express your views during the open forum. The open forum will also include a question answer session between the audience and the experts on the dias.
A limited number of twin sharing rooms will be available in the guest houses of IITR, CBRI, NIH and Irrigation department at Roorkee. These will be booked depending on availability and on First Come First Serve basis. The organizers will help in getting hotels booked for you at your cost. The information on hotels etc. may be obtained by communicating with the organizing secretaries through email.
Roorkee is a nice town of moderate size in the district of Haridwar (Uttarakhand) and is located on the banks of the Upper Ganga Canal, which takes off at Haridwar, 30 km away. Roorkee is 170 km from Delhi and it is well connected by rail and road including Shatabdi Express (Delhi-Dehradun). Many tourist and pilgrimage places like Haridwar (30 km) Rishikesh (55 km), Dehradun (77 km), Mussoorie (100 km) are close by.
Roorkee can also be reached by air through a flight to Jolly Grant Airport Dehradun from where it will take about 2 hrs. by road to reach Roorkee.
