• allowing teachers to assess students’ understanding and provide the feedback students need for improving their performance.

• Gathering data such as formulating and recording their questions, making predictions, procedures, and results, composing reflections, and communicating findings.

• A composition book

• Scissors

• Glue (liquid works better than glue sticks)

• Markers or colored pencils

Each journal entry is two pages: right side, left side

Left side: Teacher or student notes on the topic

Right side: Foldables, graphics, etc.

Glue a ribbon to the inside of the back cover to be used as a bookmark

Interactive Journal Set Up

Interactive Journal Tips• Glue an envelope inside the front cover to hold

any loose pieces of foldables.

• Use white glue and not glue sticks. Use small dots of glue about a half inch apart.

• Plan on no more than 1 to 2 entries per week

• Keep a dated filing system of all entries so that students can get what they missed if they were absent.
