Here is the part you need

• The part is made by Bosch. Don’t buy it from BMW. They sell thesame part which is labeled Bosch BMW and a BMW part number.

Remove the Oil Filter Cover

BMW oil wrench tool is needed

• Worth buying online for about $15

Remove this silver unit

Remove this silver sensor and connector

• Set aside for now. You can leave the connector attached, but it is easier to work with if you remove it.

Cover oil unit with rag

• So you don’t drop anything in it

Disconnect black cable

• Some oil may come out.

Black cable removed with wrench

• Don’t lose the bolt

Now sensor can be removed

Loosen screw with allen wrench

• Don’t drop it.

Sensor comes out

The plug is a bit difficult to reach

• Take your time….

Bolt and O Ring removed.

Here is the cable to be inserted

• They are identical except for the BMW logo.

Reconnect sensor with allen key

Put back the silver unit

Reconnect black cable

• Some oil may come out.

This would be a good time to replace oil filter

To reach cable connect it is easier if you remove the coverPerhaps do this at first.

Gently remove caps

Remove Cover Caps and 2 screws

Replace Oil Filter cover

• Don’t over tighten it. Hand tighten plus ¼ turn

Brakleen can be used to clear up the area

Start the car and check the ODB unit for codes
