DESCRIPTION
Observation is a critical first step to innovation. Ford's idea for an assembly line came from the meat packing industry. Clarence Birdseye discovered the quick-freezing process by watching Eskimos ice fish in forty below zero weather conditions. Revo saw the coating NASA used on satellites as a way to revolutionize protection on sunglasses. And Walt's vision for Disneyland was inspired by Tivoli Gardens in Copenhagen. Because there is no idea that can't be improved on, the possibilities for innovation are boundless.Ford, Birds Eye, Revo and Disney brought into focus what countless others looked at, but completely missed. While innovative ideas that generate revenues, save money, and add value always took great effort in the past, it's even more challenging in today's sensory overloaded world with contradictory and confusing signs that make it very difficult to recognize what's in front of our eyes. To innovate is NOT innate, but innovation can be learned, practiced and applied.
