offering a broad, flexible and forward-looking curriculum which encourages among pupils intellectual
curiosity, sound learning and a spirit of enquiry in the pursuit of academic excellence;
upholding the Christian faith whilst encouraging understanding of and respect for those in the School
who are of other traditions;
providing opportunities for the development of leadership, independence and responsibility;
building upon a friendly School community;
promoting equal treatment for all members of the School community and appreciating worthy
achievements by each of those members;
providing the assured quality of a well-qualified, committed staff;
working in close partnership with parents;
offering a wide range of extra-curricular activities through which pupils can develop their social,

Academic Overview 2015
2015 has been truly a year to celebrate in terms of public examination results, with a record A-level A*/A pass-
rate of 47.9%, strong AS performances from the cohort now starting their Upper Sixth year and GCSE results
where the A*/A pass-rate was a healthy eight percentage points up on that of 2014. Again 76% of A-level grades
were from A* to B and the overwhelming majority of our leavers are now about to take up places at Russell
Group and other leading universities in the UK and overseas. Among other newly hatched Old Millhillians, a
good number are going to respected institutions that specialise in their particular disciplines; we are equally
proud of their achievements and wish them every success. On the following pages, you will find a list of the
exciting destinations of our Class of 2015.
Among the excellent performances at GCSE were those 65 pupils who attained at least six A*/A grades. The
following pupils achieved straight A*/A grades: Maxim Asher and Daniel Wolstenholme-Powell (each with 10
A*); Xin Yue Cui, Caitlin Donovan and Hao Yuan Yang (8 A*); Harry Dawood, Masaki Kanetsuka, Oliver Miles
and Kian Zoje (7 A*); Samuel Chadwick, Miriam Green, William Kilbourn, Micah Lazarus and James Sheldon (6
A*); Benedict Balcombe, Arushi Borundia, Felix Naylor Marlow, Ali Saadat and Matthew Thal (5 A*); Ethan
Bamber (4 A*). In addition, we congratulate: Pin-Chuen Fang for 9 A* among other grades; Tejas Lodhia for 8
A*; Matthew Braham for 7 A*; Daniel Braham for 6 A*; Carlota Franques, Tacita Shah, Daniel Weller and Shu Yu
Wen for 5 A*.
With the start of public examination reform just around the corner, 2015 was the last year in which Lower Sixth
Formers took AS examinations in all subjects. The overall pass-rate of A/B grade equivalents was 57%, and we
congratulate in particular those who achieved three A grade equivalents or better: George Beckman, Orla
Brennan, Jad Faki, Weixi Fu, Alexander Habib, Yaoyi Huang, Joshua Jackson, Yuan Jia, Jason Lee, Fu Pong Ma,
Thomas Miller, Sofya Namdakova, Vinay Patel, Sophie Tingle, Keval Vaghjiani, Davie Xu, Yunzhuo Yang and
Yan Zeng.
In subject news, we were delighted with our first cohort of 24 GCSE Computer Science pupils who achieved
62.5% A*/A. The inaugural Lower Sixth class is now embarking on the A-level course and we shall look forward
to reporting their results in 2017. The first Religious Studies cohort to go through to A-level finished with a
pleasing set of grades.
The 2015-16 Remove pupils are members of the first cohort nationally for reformed GCSEs in English Language,
English Literature and Mathematics which will be sat in 2017. Meanwhile, the Lower Sixth Formers are starting
courses in a variety of reformed and unreformed subjects and will sit the first new-style A-levels in 2017. During
this academic year, the School will make important decisions about how best to adapt to examination reform as
it comes on stream for most GCSE and A-level subjects from September 2016.
