Practical 08Inductance in Series Circuit

By: Engr.Irshad Rahim Memon

Find out the total inductance in series circuit

Objectives

When two inductors are connected in series, the same current flows in each of them and the effective inductance of the circuit will always be greater than any one of the two inductors taken alone.

The effective inductance of a circuit with two inductors (L1 and L2) connected in series is simply the sum of the two inductance values

Introduction

Thus the effective inductance, L, of the circuit will be given by: L = L1 + L2. Similarly, where three inductors (L1, L2, and L3) are connected in series, the effective inductance of the combined circuit will be given by: L = L1 + L2 + L3.

Apparatus Required

Construct the given circuit diagram in Figure # 01.

Select the position in LCR meter at the inductance measuring side.

Connect the LCR meter parallel with the inductors and note the reading in observation table.
