Indiana: Monday, July 9th - Registration begins at 4PM, Welcome at 5:00 PM

When does the Regional Science Institute end?

Indiana: Thursday July 12th - Finish by 12:30PM

How much does the Institute cost?

There is no registration fee and Discovery covers meals beginning with dinner on he first day through lunch on the fourth day. Educators are responsible for travel costs to and from the institute.

Discovery is paying for lodging. So, do I get my own room?

I need to fly/drive in the day before. Will Discovery pay for my room on the day prior to the institute?

No. We do not start on the first day until 5:00 PM to allow for travel.

Can I bring a guest with me (e.g., spouse, boyfriend/girlfriend)?

No, unless they have been accepted as an attendee to the Institute.

Will we have time for sightseeing?

You will not have free time to go into Indianapolis, but we do have an excursion planned.

What type of clothes should we wear during the week?

Dress is informal. Check the weather forecast prior to coming. I’d bring comfortable shoes.

Is renting a car sensible?

That is totally up to you, but it will be sitting in a parking lot for 99% of the week.

Where do I unload and register?

You’ll go to Warren Hall (1564 Windermire St., Indianapolis) on the campus of the University of Indianapolis in Indianapolis, IN. There is a parking lot in the middle of the complex that you may park in to unload and register.

How do I access the internet?

You will receive log-in information at registration. This will grant you access to the wireless network that is throughout the campus. You do not need to pay for the internet, it has been prepaid for you.

You should have received an invitation to join Sched.org earlier. All schedules, descriptions and locations are available here. This is a free service that you may access on any mobile device or computer.

Where do I park?

You may park in any Orange, Visitor Parking Spot. Lot 19 is next to Warren Hall. The University of Indianapolis has a great map that shows visitor parking located here: http://www.uindy.edu/map-and-directions/campus-map

We purchased a linen packet for every attendee that contains:

• 2 flat sheets• 1 pillowcase• 1 bath towel• 1 washcloth• 1 pillow• Toilet paper is provided in each bathroom

If you would like to bring additional towels that is up to you.

• Suntan lotion

• Any medications you are currently taking.

• Clothes (check the weather forecast prior to arriving)

7:00PM – 9:00PM G FIZZ: Leveraging user-generated video and music in the science classroom Speakers: Dr. Lodge McCammonThis session will be centered around a modeled lesson demonstrating best practices in utilizing user-generatedvideo, facilitative teaching, and student-centered learning. The participants, acting as the students, willcollaborate to create and publish technology-enhanced learning outcomes that will be available online forreinforcement, remediation, and assessment. During this session you will experience an exciting, engaging, andtransparent 21st century classroom.

9:00PM – 9:30PM G Balloon ConstructionEach evening we will complete a different phase of our balloon construction, culminating with our Balloon launchon the morning of the last day.

8:00AM – 3:00PM E Offsite Excursion: Morgan-Monroe State ParkWorking in partnership with Purdue University we will go out, literally into the field to learn about current forestrymethods as well as plant and animal diversity in the Morgan-Monroe State Forest. Please bring sunscreen (we'll have some if you forget), a journal, a pen and comfortable shoes.

6:00PM – 7:00PM M DinnerBack to the dinning hall just like in college. Each dinner, other than the first evening's BBQ will be in the dinninghall on campus.

Prizes will begiven.
