I´ll make an overview of the Spanish market since the liberation in 1.992 till now, how the petrol stations business has change and has become a Service Station, we sell everything, a chewing gum, a newspaper, a telephone even a preservative, also we clean the car, we sell

rooms, we do everything and the petrol is just a hook to bring customers.The actual crisis has two times in Spain, one between 2.008 till 2.011 with no important afecttion to the market and another, the last two years with high repercusion. Politician

changes Law 4/2013 and "Sanitary Cent" are the guilties.I´ll try to make my prediction about the future but it´s dark for the Petrol Stations

Independent and not independent.

In 1992 the Spanish market is liberalized, as often happens in such situations can not go from 0-100 in 3 seconds., The road has been full of adjustments and changes that have never been easy.

In 1,992 service stations were selling fuel and oil, nothing else. The room was small but high sales, was sold in cash, not credits cards. When I say that sales were high compare them with current.

In 1992 the average in a season was 3,500 m3 in Spain now that average is 1,500 m3. In comparison with English or German station are sales are ridiculous, when compared with Italian station are good.

In 1992 there was no need to be sympathetic or friendly now our retailers must go clean shaven.

In 1992 the stations they had a Lube shop of 10 m2 now have stores of 200 m2 and sell toys, bandaids, tampons, magazines, gum, condoms, drinks, snacks and sometimes oil!

Current problems at Spanish petrol stations are: • low profit margin• Sales reduction in liters• Lot of administrative requirements.• Lot of environmental requiriments• Unfair competition (cooperatives, illegal

pumps, etc.)

• Remember that the market is led by three companies between them have 70% market quote. They decide the prices.

• Another important fact is that the market is that approximately 80 % of the stations are CODOS and COCO, just 20% are DODOS.

believes we were rich. • 2.008 , 2.009 , 2.010 and 2.011 didn`t affect consumption so much, our

decline started in 2012 and specially in 2013.• The first thing we noticed was the drop in wash sales , between 2,008 and

2,010 were successive falled 30 % each year over the previous . The liters went down but single-digit figures.

• Another important fact is that the market is that approximately 80 % of the stations are CODOS and COCO, just 20% are DODOS .

• The gross profit went up slightly in the last years, the big loosers from this crisis were CODOS, their margins not raised and lowered sales , so a large number of CODO stations have returned to the oil Company or have changed of Dealer. Most Companies are running now their petrol Stations.

Politician changes,Law and taxes. The hole 2.012-2.013

• Most Important politician changes in the last years are the following:

• Royal Decree 6/2.000• In Spain when they want to make a law that has no need to be

aprobed in the parlament they promove it as a Royal Decree, so you have to obey it and there is no discussion.

• This law wanted to reduce the price by building petrol station in malls, they can build a petrol station just because they have a mall, no restrictions, very nice for the equality.

• The responsable was a Minister that six months after was the president of Carrefour and still is.

• Because of the Royal Decree 6/2.000 just in my country, Cantabria we close four petrol station because of ilegal acts.

• Royal Decree 4/2013

• As the other Royal Decree was declared ilegal and unconstitutional by the courts so goverment has created another in the same way this year, unbelievable!!

• "Health Cent” Law• It`s not a cent it can be 0,072 euros, it`s has been

declared illegal by the europeans courts, but has been converted into special taxes.

• Create leakage between autonomous communities, for example my province has dropped in 2012 according to official sales and my neighbors Vasques have risen sales.

another nice law if you can´t smoke in a place you can not sell tobacco.

In Spain young people do “botellon” (Big Bottle), they meet in a park for drink, talk and have a party, the authorities are against it but think they should not ban is more easy to ban us to sell alcohol from 22:00.

The last idea is that we need stations security measures as a bank! Do politians realice that we sell less and charge more for credits cards? incredible but true, we have a moratorium of 10 years.

If pollute pay and also respond to your personal assets

As you can imagine we are always guilty

We have to pay for access to the station, about 3,000 euros / year, but if a car parked inside the station does not take it the crane.

Future

After the dark always comes the calm, I think that in 2.017 there woul be a slowly remount so the survivors (I hope to be then) wil return back to a positive cycle.
