Service user feedback is an important aspect of any organisationrsquos growth andstability Complaints are a form of feedback that can be used to improveservices
Patients who use GP websites should be able to access complaints information

and any documents needed to filea complaint Information should bereadily available without patientshaving to contact the surgerydirectly
Through our LewishamIndependent Health ComplaintsAdvocacy Service we werepleased to find several localexamples of good practice in theprovision of the complaints
information However the quality of the website content wasinconsistentWe embarked on a project to assess the existence and standardof information on practice websites
Thirteen of the GP surgeries either had no information or extremely limitedtext A common practice amongst websites with poor information was torefer patients to visit the reception to obtain further details about thecomplaints procedure To help GP practices provide quality and consistentinformation we created a template that can be adopted
So far nine surgeries have responded directly to our recommendations andmade updates to their websites
We are happy to share that One Health Lewisham the GP Federation hasagreed to implement our complaints template as the standard model forall GP practices in the borough As a result residents will now havegreater access to information on how to make a complaint and whatsupport services are available

Our Healthier South East London is organising aseries of borough based engagement events andtopic based engagement events to shape thefuture of health services in Lewisham and acrosssouth east London
The experiences captured at these events will be combined with the findingsHealthwatch collected earlier this year to influence the local plan for south eastLondon
Two events are taking place in Lewisham during July which will focus on theoverall plan as well as discussing issues such as how much time the NHS shouldspend with primary schools

Dental walk-in service at Kings College Hospital is changing
From Monday 12 August the Acute Dental Care servicebased at Kingrsquos College Hospital Denmark Hill is introducinga new operating model The service is commonly known as adental walk-in clinic for urgent treatment Currentlypatients in need of urgent dental care can attend the clinicon a walk-in basis and up to 30 slots are available each day
Under the new model an appointments system will replace the walk-in processPatients will need to call in advance of attending Callers will be given the nextavailable same day appointment at the clinic There is no change to the number ofslots available Once all appointment slots have been filled people will be advised to contact NHS111 for alternative urgent dental care services Appointments will not be bookedany further in advance to ensure equitable access for those needing urgenttreatment

Dental walk-in service at Kings College Hospital is changing
From Monday 12 August the Acute Dental Care servicebased at Kingrsquos College Hospital Denmark Hill is introducinga new operating model The service is commonly known as adental walk-in clinic for urgent treatment Currentlypatients in need of urgent dental care can attend the clinicon a walk-in basis and up to 30 slots are available each day
Under the new model an appointments system will replace the walk-in processPatients will need to call in advance of attending Callers will be given the nextavailable same day appointment at the clinic There is no change to the number ofslots available Once all appointment slots have been filled people will be advised to contact NHS111 for alternative urgent dental care services Appointments will not be bookedany further in advance to ensure equitable access for those needing urgenttreatment

Our Healthier South East London is organising aseries of borough based engagement events andtopic based engagement events to shape thefuture of health services in Lewisham and acrosssouth east London
The experiences captured at these events will be combined with the findingsHealthwatch collected earlier this year to influence the local plan for south eastLondon
Two events are taking place in Lewisham during July which will focus on theoverall plan as well as discussing issues such as how much time the NHS shouldspend with primary schools
