Two Major operations

1. Absorption

Stripping

Stripper is used to separate a

minor component (solute)

from liquid (solvent) which

has absorbed it in absorber.

Regeneration of solvent of

absorber

Suitable conditions for

stripper

High temperature

Low pressure

Stripping Index

Amount of energy needed to remove/ strip out 1 lb

mol of CO2 in the stripper

Calculated by applying energy balance on the

stripper

Gives us an idea about efficient working of

stripper

Refrige machine

Two stage compressor working in refrigeration

loop

Pressurize all in taken ammonia vapors up to

required pressure so that these can be

condensed back into liquid routed through

condensers

Recommendations

40 psig steam flow rate to be reduced

Ejectors cleaning is required

Increase pressure of 60 psig steam up to 68-69 psig

Decrease the flow rate of Lean solution and

increase the flow rate of semi lean solution

Lines coming to ejectors also need insulation on

some points
