Improve Health and Wellness: Using Meditation the

Right Way

Everybody is looking for a shortcut to improve health and wellness.

Vigorous diets, quick fitness regimens, exercises while you are at work and the like are just some of the ways people use to remain healthy.

While these do help to a large extent, the stress that we experience on a daily basis does take its toll too.

An age old technique to good health and one propagated across wellness schemes is that of meditation.

Though essentially an Eastern practice, it has been adopted world over for the benefits it provides.

For those getting into meditation for the first time, conscious breathing is a good way to start.

This is a great way to calm your nerves, soothe your mind, and simply allow your spirit to stay grounded.

Creative visualization is often used to relieve pain and also in a number of other illnesses, such as cancer therapy.

It involves going to that little happy place in your mind.

Many countries have evolved their own versions but the benefits of meditation remain similar.

Indians practice meditation in the form of yogic Asanas and through controlled breathing.

Pranayama, as it is called, is simple enough to be practiced by all age groups.

Qigong originated in China and uses body energy known as Chi or Qi.

Rhythmic body movements are used to expel negative energy from the body.

Pure energy is brought in and circulated all through where it is needed.

Zen meditation has its roots in Buddhism. For beginners, a practice called Zazen is the best way to start.

The peace of mind that this passive form of meditation brings is indescribable.

There are several benefits to good meditation.

Brings down anxietyLowers blood pressureImproves concentration

Issues begin to seem clearer when you have attained inner peace.

Having an improved sense of self worth is important to feeling good about yourself, mentally and physically.

For people who suffer from migraines and chronic fatigue, meditation has been able to tackle it for them.

Being able to feel positive also works at alleviating depression and resultant mood swings. The positivity you feel will reflect in your relationships with others.

For people suffering from terminal or grave illnesses like cancer, HIV, and even PTSD, meditation has been known to help.

To a large extent, meditation requires that you believe in its powers. Being skeptical may not really help you gain all that you should from the practice.
