CONCEPTUAL PARADIGM

SYNTHESIS OF REVIEW OF LITERATURE AND STUDIES

The municipal solid waste (MSW), mostly generated by

commercial and household sources are being collected. The U.S.

Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) separate these collected wastes.

Due to increase in solid waste generation, many solid waste management

issues emerged in the U.S in 1980’s. Thus, developing a National

Management Program is very challenging.

Environmentally safe management should be addressed and

monitored globally since waste is present everywhere. For example:

European Environmental Agency (EEA) offers solid waste management

guidance similar to EPA's integrated hierarchy.

The R.A 9003 is considered as the most comprehensive Solid Waste

Management Act in the Philippines and it seems to be a big step forward

in addressing the Solid Waste Management problems in the country.

According to a study of Herera, M.A. on Solid Waste Management at

San Pablo City, the compliance to the said act was still inefficient.

CHAPTER IV

SUMMARY, CONCLUSION AND RECOMMENDATION

Majority of the respondents were 35 years old,

female, high school graduate earning approximately from

Php5,000 to 14,999 per month. Findings showed that the

majority of respondents are Somewhat Aware of Ecological

Solid Waste Management, there's a lack of practice in its

implementation and there was a Moderate Problem existing

on Solid Waste Management Service.

There is a significant relationship between the

demographic profile of respondents to their level of

awareness and their answers on problems encountered to

Ecological Solid Waste Management.

Therefore, problems on Solid Waste Management Service

and the respondents awareness were contributory reason

why Bunot Lake was polluted.

RECOMMENDATION

The government should conduct a seminar

discussing the ESWM, allot sufficient funds and

implement the cleaning programs properly. They should

also penalize those people who are not complying to the

said act. All the plans of the government will only be

possible with the cooperation of the people.

Future studies are recommended to fully understand

Ecological Solid Waste Management.
