If you can dream it, you can DO IT!http://positivetranceformations.com.au

While inspirational and motivational quotes

can certainly help people find strength to carry on or to

persevere with their goals, sometimes, you do have to have a

small reality check.

They say that if you can imagine or dream it, you can do it.

However, no matter how vivid anyone’s imagination is, there is no way that you can go riding a

winged unicorn through a field of rainbows in reality.

A friend of mine with a long-term medical condition can’t get over it, no matter how much he wants

to do it.

A person suffering from AIDS might dream about a cure, but no matter how positively he or she

thinks, the disease won’t go away (although thinking positively will help his or her immune system

struggle on for a bit longer

– and there are doctors and scientists out there who are

dreaming about finding a cure, so they should keep on dreaming and

working for this).

And sometimes, no matter how hard we try, our goals can be

stupidly unrealistic.

It’s important to have realistic goals to aim at. If you don’t, you

could actually end up hurting yourself.

We see so many women who dreamed that it would be possible to have a great career, be a great

mother and keep the house looking fantastic –

and look stunning and be great lovers. However, the reality is

that you only have a certain amount of energy and time in the day, and no matter how much you dream about it and persevere, you aren’t going to be able to do it all.

And even if we’re trying our darnedest to reach for the stars and achieve everything you’ve

dreamed of, other people have a tendency to get in the way:

someone else gets the job as manager that you were hoping for, children get sick and need

you right when you had an important meeting coming up…

and so on!

Sorry to sound like such a wet blanket, but if you have a dream

of being perfect at everything and continually strive for this, you will

end up wearing yourself out.

Continually trying to stay motivated and on top of

absolutely everything leads to stress, and if you don’t cut

yourself some slack and allow yourself to goof off,

relax and let the whole blooming lot go to blazes for half an hour a

day (at least!) you will find yourself with anxiety problems,

burnout and possibly depression.

So what’s to be done?

First of all, you need to step back and evaluate your dreams. As a

host of other inspirational quotes will tell you, it’s important

to focus on what’s really important to you.

And then you have to let some things slide. Perhaps you might decide that getting to the top of

the corporate ladder isn’t as important to you as, say, having time in your day to learn how to

paint or write a novel.

Perhaps having more time having fun with your children or your

significant other is more important than having a spotless

home.

Be realistic. Pobody’s nerfect, as a very old inspirational quote

used to say.
