"Green Light Labs is very interesting

for two fundamental reasons:

(a)It helps fleets make confident

electric vehicle procurement

decisions using real life driving data

(b)Its model is based on a thorough

and robust academic background”

Green Light Labs technology was developed with the support of multiple funding

agencies:

Simplify the EV purchase by partnering with fleet and energy service providers to

help car buyers save money and fight climate change. Assessed the EV potential

of 10,000+ fleet vehicles and helped hundreds of consumers

Our technology was developed with more than $1.2M in R&D over 5 years, by top

National Lab and EPA scientists who had unique access to OEM automotive data

GLL has secured an exclusive license to this data science technology

FLEET ELECTRIFICATION

CASE STUDY

Case Study: Fleet Electric Vehicles

• Delivered Fleet Electrification Assessment for the

City of Fremont in partnership with Optony Inc. and

DKS Associates

• We supplied MyFleetBuy – an intuitive Fleet

Electrification software platform

• Assessed EV readiness of 480+ vehicles. Data

integrated: Telematics, fuel and odometer reports,

fleet inventory data

• Measured travel and dwell patterns to recommend

EVs & charging infrastructure, and to calculate

TCO & CO2 savings

• 486 fleet vehicles

• 20% on telematics (Verizon)

✓ 159 fleet vehicles had

market-ready EVs

✓ $3M in OPEX savings

over EV lifetime

✓ 54% less CO2 by 2030

MyFleetBuy

The Challenge

Transportation is the greatest source of greenhouse gas emissions in Fremont, accounting for nearly 60% of community emissions.

The City of Fremont was developing a 10 year electrification and de-carbonization plan for all their City-operated vehicles (over 480 vehicles). They wanted to determine how many EVs could be deployed and what charging infrastructure was needed.

The Approach

Green Light Labs

existing fleet data

and upload it into

Problem # 1/6

Using data to make EV choices is complicated when fleet travel data is not easily accessible.

21

Solution: Create fleet data map and make it accessible

Problem # 2/6

Vehicle equipment also consumes energy which makes it more complicated to assess EV viability.

23

Solution: Add vehicle & equipment energy drain

Problem # 3/6

Fleet EV-assessments are made at a point in time, but vehicle procurement decisions are made annually.

25

Solution: Fleet owner chooses vehicles to analyze

Problem # 4/6

The EV market evolves very quickly which makes it difficult to stay on top of replacement choices and incentives.

27

Solution: Preselect EVs & create user friendly search

28

Solution: Preselect EVs & create user friendly search

29

Solution: Preselect EVs & create user friendly search

Problem # 5/6

Internal discussions can derail fleet electrification plans.

31

Solution: Intuitive tools that facilitate conversations

Present Fleet vehicles side-by-side with replacement options

32

Solution: Intuitive tools that facilitate conversations

Explore battery state of charge for different EV alternatives

33

Solution: Intuitive tools that facilitate conversations

Visualize trip data to convince drivers about EV viability

34

Solution: Intuitive tools that facilitate conversations

Compare cost to own and emissions for multiple alternatives

Problem # 6/6

Planning for charging infrastructure is complicated and it changes depending on the number of vehicles to be

deployed.

36

Solution: Provide charging data for each assessment

Estimate charging infrastructure needed at facilities

37

Solution: Provide charging data for each assessment

Understand power and energy profile at each facility

The Fleet Outcomes

✓ $3,000,000 in Savings – by replacing approx. 1/3 of its fleet with commercially available light-duty electric vehicles, the City will save up to $3M during the lifetime of the vehicles

✓ 54% Reduction in Carbon Emissions – by electrifying, the City will be on track to achieve carbon emissions reductions of 54% by 2030, compared to 2019 levels

✓ NEW EV Charging Infrastructure Plan –the City now has a software tool to help them plan and roll-out charging infrastructure as their fleet turns over
