What’s your accent?

Touch of blueDaydreaming about decorating? Harmonious spaces need a uniform, neutral colour scheme in general – the kitchen is no exception. However, this may be seen in some circles as a little bland and boring. White kitchens – worktops and units, glass, gloss, or matt – need a splash of colour, contrast or texture to please the eye.

Touch of greenColour accents in the home are on trend right now, and so easy to achieve, and adding colour accessories and electricals is such a quick and inexpensive way to transform your kitchen.

Red AccentThe easiest way of accenting a kitchen design is by using high intensity colours to punctuate your base colour. It’s important to remember not to over do this accenting however; too much intense colour can be over bearing and too little – well, it gets overwhelmed by everything else.

Touch of redJust using the age-old principal of the 80/20 rule will keep you on track for a pleasant arrangement.

Touch of greenThe cooler approach makes for a more soothing environment; a de-stressing environment for the thinking man.

Touch of blueGenerally, the finest kitchen design uses either cool (blues, greens) or warm (red, orange, yellow), but rarely are they both – unless you are looking for something more left-field.

So, is your accent the cool, sophisticated type or the bold assertive warm?
