Hybridisation & Bricolage

To explore hybridisation and bricolage in relation to postmodernism.

DefinitionsHybridisation

This occurs when attempting to create something new by merging two existing objects together.

Bricolage- French term meaning ‘tinkering’

The result of forming new conventions is called Bricolage. This is caused by putting things together in a manner that they were not designed for and thus creating new meanings and conventions. Often elements or conventions are juxtaposed.

Juxtaposition is a mash up of contrasting/opposing elements.
