Item 330-01 – Half cent LQ pair – 1880, ½¢ LQ pair tied by Halifax NS duplex cancel on Theakston & Angwin Hardware cover paying 1¢ printed circular rate to Pictou (b/s). Flap unsealed. An appealing cover. $500.00

Item 330-02 – 12½¢ LQ to Newfoundland – 1870, 12½¢ LQ (medium wove) tied by 2 ring 7 on cover from St. John NB paying the proper 12½¢ letter rate to St. John’s Newfoundland via Halifax (b/s). The rate was reduced to 6¢ on Nov 1, 1872. Very scarce. Of the 28 recorded such covers, most of them are going to Harbor Grace. $1,250.00

Item 330-03 – Double weight shortpaid – 1861, stampless cover from St. Evariste de Forsyth LC (Berri hammer, Megantic county) paid 5¢ underpaying 10¢ double rate to St. Joseph de Beauce via Quebec, ‘’more-to-pay’’ and unpaid 7¢ representing 5¢ and 2¢ penalty for additional ½ ounce. A nice cover with 5¢ prepaid credited as it could have been charged 14¢ due. A lovely Decimal cover. $100.00 SOLD

Item 330-04 – Rare transatlantic money letter – 1853, money letter stampless cover from London UC ‘’paid’’1/2 Stg converted to 1/4 Currency paying the Cunard rate to Scotland (Dunfermline b/s). Carried by Cunard America 38th voyage via Boston. More to pay with 6d Stg collection. Harrison reports 4 stampless money letters to England and 1 to Scotland. Allan Steinhart reports 3 to England. An incredible showpiece. $750.00

Item 330-05 – 50¢ airmail rate to Columbia – 1937, 50¢ Parliament Victoria tied by Toronto machine cancel on cover paying 50¢ airmail letter rate to Columbia (b/s). A scarce single use and rate in effect just 2 years. $100.00

Item 330-06 – 25¢ airmail to Mexico – 1936, 6¢ Airmail block of 4, 1¢ Pictorial tied by Winnipeg Man duplex cancel on cover paying 25¢ airmail letter rate to Mexico. A very tough destination. $100.00

Item 330-08 – Business reply cover registered – 1939, 10¢ RCMP on 4¢ permit paid by addressee cover from Ardmore Alberta paying 14¢ registered letter rate (10¢ paid by the sender, 4¢ paid by the addressee) to Edmonton (b/s). Bonnyville transit (b/s). A great piece for a show and tell session. $85.00

Item 330-10 – St. John NB Exhibition – 1908, 2¢ Quebec on Smith Brokerage Co. and St. John Exhibition cover paying 2¢ letter rate to Yarmouth (b/s). The cover was upside down in the International machine thus cancelled with one of the hammer. $100.00 SOLD

Item 330-19 – Jubilee on biscuits advertising – 1897, 3¢ Jubilee tied by St. John NB squared circle on Hamm Bros biscuit makers advertising cover to Moncton. It is not a scarce cover but very hard to find with a Jubilee. $65.00 SOLD

Item 330-28 – WW1 APO S.5 to St. John NB – 1917, free franked field service postcard from Army Post Office S.5 (from Gunner D.C. Harper) entered in St. John NB with 2¢ Admiral to avoid the addressee being charged. $15.00

Item 330-29 – St. Johns early B Changeling – 1856, stampless cover with letter from Phillipsburg CE to Montreal via St. Johns with Saint Johns B Changeling (b/s). A very early use as the ERD is September 15. 3 examples are known. Rare. $100.00 SOLD

Item 330-31 – Drummondville 1829 type – 1830, stampless folded cover from Drummondville LC (1829 type postmark) rated 9d collect to Quebec. The cover is addressed to a Lieutenant-Colonel and docketing notes indicate that it is from the 3rd Battn 27th Regiment of foot for a permit to have a lot for a range in Melbourne Lower Canada. $60.00 SOLD

Item 330-32 – Drummondville 1829 type – 1847, free franked stampless folded cover from Drummondville LC (1829 type postmark) no rate shown so assume it is free to Montreal. $40.00

Item 330-33 – Mailomat used at CNE – 1947, 3¢ Toronto meter 51002 with CNE slogan on Mailomat card mailed from the Mailomat machine that was in operation at Toronto's 1947 CNE to US. A nice non philatelic use. $75.00 SOLD

The "Mailomat" was a coin-operated postage meter machine for public use manufactured by the Pitney-Bowes Postage Meter Company. The machine was first introduced in Canada, on an experimental basis, in the lobby of the Toronto post office in 1938.

Item 330-34 – Money packet with meters – 1943, $5.32 and $5.00 Toronto meters with Buy Victory Bonds slogan on tag paying $10.32 money packet registered to Kincardine via Palmerston & Kincardine RPO. The maximum for one meter was $9.99. A nice 205 ounces money packet from the Bank of Montreal paid with two tapes. $100.00

Item 330-36 – Pointe Claire Dorval meter – 1972, 10¢ meter (Canada crown) from Pointe Claire Dorval on postcard paying 10¢ rate to Holland. Scarce meter. $15.00 SOLD

Item 330-37 – Mailomat in Ottawa – 1944, Ottawa 4¢ meter with buy war savings slogan on cover from the 2nd experimental operation at the Ottawa Station B post office. First day with insert to Kansas City. $40.00 SOLD
