HOW TO USEFOR STEELS HAVING HARDENING

TEMPERATURES UP TO 1650° F.HARDENING. Heat the piece to about 500° F. (BLUE COLOR) and coat with PBC by running the piece through dry powder. When thoroughly coated, harden in prescribed fashion for that particular steel.ANNEALING. Heat the piece to about 500° F. and thoroughly coat with dry PBC. Return part to the furnace and complete a normal annealing cycle. When finished, boil in water to remove coating.ANNEALING A CAVITY. Fill cavity with PBC so entire surface to be kept clean is protected. Anneal in prescribed fashion.

TO CLEAN AFTER QUENCHINGWater hardening steels are usually self-cleaning after quenching.Oil hardening steels usually require an additional water boil to clean.

KEEP DRY AND FREE OF CONTAMINATION
