How to Tell Real

diamondsFrom Fake

Up until the 1950's, appraising the value of diamonds were

fairly inadequate. Depending on where you had it appraised, the

same stone may have been evaluated differently.

Fortunately, GIA's 4C system has become a universal grading method

that is used when assessing diamonds and other precious stones.

The 4C grading system examines some of the diamond's most important physical

features that help discern any anomalies.

Color, Clarity, Cut, Carat Weight

ColorUnder proper lighting and viewing conditions, the amount of color in a diamond is measured using a

D-to-Z scale and are compared to a "master stone."

Higher ValueTinged (Yellow/Brown)

Clarity

Using an 11-step scale, clarity is tested by measuring the number of the stone's inclusions and blemishes under 10x magnification.

Cut

order to determine the cut grade of the diamond, you must calculate the things that influence its face-up

appearance. This includes the D-to-Z scale, the stone's refracting ability, its brightness, scintillation,

overall design and the craftsmanship involved.

Carat Weight

Generally speaking, the heavier diamonds are more valuable. One carat is equal to 200mg and can be divided into 100 points.

For example:If a jeweler says the stone is a 50 pointer, it weights .5 carats.

With over two decades in the industry, Wildfire will give you the right appraisal for your precious stones and jewelries.
