The easiest way to make new friends and get involved in student life at USQ is to join one (or 10) of our
student-run clubs and societies. There are currently over 50 USQ affiliated clubs ranging in focus from sport to cultural and special interest. There are also a number of faculty and course-related clubs to help you get to know other
students who share your interests, and you don’t have to be an on-campus student to participate!
If you don’t see a club that takes your fancy (we’re still waiting for the Chocolate Lovers’ Society) it’s only four easy steps
to setting up the club of your dreams.
So, you’ve had a look at the clubs and societies directory and the club you want to join doesn’t exist.
The first step is to complete the ‘Clubs and Societies Expression of Interest’ form. You can collect one from Phoenix Central or download it yourself.
Note: You will need a name for your club, be able to describe its purpose and have at least 10 members (50 % must be current USQ students or staff).
Expression of interest
First meetingNow you need to work out your club details.
Pull together your recruits and have an informal meeting.
You will need to discuss:
- Aims and objectives - Activities and events
- Constitution - a set of rules to guide your club (consult your registration pack for a template)
- Membership fees - Executive committee roles
(President, Secretary, Treasurer, Club Contact)
AGMIt is time for your first AGM (Annual General Meeting).
At the meeting you will: - Adopt the constitution
- Elect the executive committee - Collect membership fees
- Discuss opening a community bank account and nominate signatories
Note: Meeting minutes must be recorded. A template is available from Phoenix Central or you can download it yourself.
Submit Your DocumentsThe final step to becoming affiliated is to submit the following forms to Phoenix Central:
- ‘Clubs and Societies Expression of Interest’ form
- Membership list - Signed constitution
- AGM minutes
