HOW TO HANDLETHE HOLIDAYS
Holidays can be a huge source of frustration for people. There are all
kinds of expectations to meet – whether it be the endless traveling, over-
spending on presents, and/or all the people you have to please.
Becca is the first person that's come on for a second time and she had an
awesome interview the first time we talked with her. We talked about
dabbling, she has a brand called The Dabblist, and it's one of the most popular podcast episodes so far.
Today we're going to be talking about the holidays and how to deal with them, but first if you haven't listened to the other episode, I'm just going to quickly read Becca's
bio. As I said, she's the woman behind The Dabblist. Her manifesto is to rid the taboo around the term
dabbler and instead to infuse it with a sense of alchemy and
wonder.
WHY? WHY? WHY?
Because she knows that when we bring an inquisitive heart to the process of
creating with our own two hands, to get our hands dirty, share stories and
creations with each other, we remember the ancient wisdom within. We can tap
into what our great – great - great grandmothers once knew, that given the
freedom to dabble, we can be the creators of our own joy.
I feel like this holiday season is my coming out of the closet of my real feelings about
the holidays, which feels really nice, it feels really nice. So hopefully I can give you
guys permission to sort of be real about your relationship with the holidays as well.
Growing up, the holidays was magic, right? It was a time when life literally
stopped. We got out of school, the adults stopped working, and there were twinkly lights all around the neighborhood and magical things
happened. It was special. There was a special-ness and meaning and
intention and presence, frankly, around the holiday season.

Right now we're in the days leading up to Thanksgiving. Becca started something she's calling the Gratitude Experiment, which is 10 days of one little task per day that can bring more meaning and impact and joy back into the season so that by the time the turkey is
carved on the table, She and everyone who's joining me for the experiment can be in a
mindset of slowing time down, being present.
How to not overeat during the holidays?
Have a soda water with some pomegranate juice, a lime wedge, and a mint leaf, and happily sipped on that. So that's one way
to do it. The other way to do it is to drink a glass of water between every cocktail and
to just be here now and remember that you want to feel nourished and happy in
your body.
Presents IdeasInfused vodka with Skittles. You get Skittles and you take the different colors out and you get little bottles of vodka, and each had different colors.
Infused some olive oil with rosemary and garlic and lemon, and people went bananas for these gifts.
