HOTELS VS. HOSTELSWhich one is better?

HOTELS

European hotels are quite similar to American hotels, however they tend to be smaller.

If you stay in an expensive hotel, you will have more space.

Most likely in a hotel room you will have your own bathroom.

There may even be a restaurant located on the ground floor.

In Germany you will even be able to stay in a Best Western or Holiday Inn.

In Berlin, some hotels looks like skyscrapers.

Some look like mansions.

Most of the time people have to share a bed.

Look at the bedding. How is it different?

Sometimes you luck out and get two beds in one room.

And sometimes the hotel has a pool!

HOSTELS

Hostels are a little more rustic than hotels. They are cheaper, however they don’t have

the perks of a hotel.

There are several types of rooms you could stay in, but a big difference to hotels is that you have to bring your own bedding or rent theirs.

One kind has bunk beds.

This one is a double room with separate beds.

Some youth hostels have an age limit. Some do not.

Because you are usually surrounded by people around your own age, it is fun to mingle and converse with the other people staying there.

Another major difference is that you could end up sharing a room with someone or people you don’t know.

If you are traveling alone and book a bed in a hostel, you could end up in a dorm style room with lots of different people.

This is great if you like to meet new and exciting people.

This is not great when people and coming and going all night long, or snore, or are just plain obnoxious.

There are many hostels to choose from in Berlin.
