THE DISCIPLINES-VOLTEO-POLO-RAID-HORSE RACE-HORSE JUMPING-DRESSAGE-DOMA VAQUERA

VOLTEO

In this sport people make acrobatics on the back of a horse that is galloping in acircle.It is recognised by the International Equestrian Federation but it doesn’t take part inthe Olympic Games.

POLO

The Polo appeared in Asia but it is played all around the world now.The team is made of four people. In this sport, riders go after a ball to hit it with astick for score.It is played in a field (270x150) and the match last almost two hours which aredivided in six phases (chukkers).Polo also was an Olympic Game since 1900 untill 1936.

RAID

It is also known as cross country. This discipline is typical in North Spain, UK, Frenchand America. Its origin is connected to the journeys that the cowboys used to do inorder to export the cattle.Because of it, the obstacles are the ones that you can find in this kind of journey.The race consist of differents phases depending on the level.

HORSE RACE

It consists of running in a racetrack, which is a circular circuit without obstacles.Also, there is a race in Sanlúcar’s beach, which is one of the most important, everysummer.The rider has to weigh around 40-50 Kg and short. The horses are usuallyThoroughbreds (P.S.I.) and Irish Hunters.

HORSE JUMPING

Horse Jumping is an Olympic Game since 1900.It is practise almost in the whole world.

This discipline consists of jumping hurdles. Its level of difficulty changes dependingon the title which is being competed for.The horses that take part in this competition are Arabian Horses, Thoroughbreds and Hannoverianos.

DRESSAGEDressage is an Olympic Game since 1912.It is the most complex discipline of all and it has the origin in the Medieval Age whensome militaries invent some exercises to improve his control on the horse, It´sevoluted up to today.

This discipline is the most popular and parctise in all the world. The rider has to becompound and smooth. The horses that engage in the competition are AndalusianHorse (P.R.E.), Oldenburgo, KWPN, Lipizzan and Hannoveriano.

DOMA VAQUERA

It’s the only discipline who has his origin in Spain and it’s very popular in Andalusia, where the better riders of this discipline live. It’s based on the ancient exercises that the farmer used to do to control the cattle(horses or cows).

In this discipline womansride in a different way.
