A mare is a female horse and they are pregnant for 11-13 months; she gives birth to her baby (foal). While giving birth to her foal, the mother must protect her and her new born baby foal. They are easy targets for predators.

Did you know the Przewaiski horse is the only breed of horse that can not be tamed. Long ago, people measured horses in hands; one hand equals four inches or ten centimeters. A herd of horses is about three to thirty. The fastest horse is a quater horse then a thoroughbread.

Horses are able to learn many di!erent skills and know what people mean. A horse can learn just like people. If you reward a horse, they will want to do that thing you taught them again.

Feelings are more important to a horse than its' life. A horse would kick their back legs up to show that they are mad this is called a buck. When they are happy they would kick up their front legs. When they are excited, they will nudge another horse.

If a horse feels safe with you it will trust you as its' leader. They will listen to your instructions and follow you.
