Introduction Have you ever felt like you were going faster than the wind? No? Well you would if you were on the back of a horse. I’m writing about this topic because, horses are my favorite animal. If you read this book you will learn about two categories:wild horses and farm owned horses.

This is a foal

Chapter 1: A Foal Is BornMany things happen to a horse when they are born. First a foal is a baby horse. For example, people on farms call them foals. Secondly when they are born a foal drinks can do many things. For example, a foal drinks it’s mother milk and can stand up and walk an hour after they are born. Finally, mares usually give birth to one foal at a time. For example, sometimes, but rarely, mares have twins. Those are the things that happen to a foal.

A cowboy herds some horses to a certain place.

Chapter 2 : FriendsHorses can be friends just like us. First, horse friends stand close together. For example, horse friends stand close together when they are not with their owners, if they have one of coarse. Secondly, many horses play together. They like to chase each other. Next, horses like to play fight. Mainly male horses like to play fight. Friendship is very important!

This mare looks dreamily out of her stall.

Chapter 3 : Horse TalkHorses talk just like us but, they don’t speak our language. For example, they horse talk! First, if a horse snorts it means get ready to run. For example, it also means danger is near by. Next, the horse’s main noise is to whinny. If a horse whinnies they want attention. Finally, foals also make noise. For example foals nicker when calling for their mother. Sometimes I think horses talk too much!

A horse is eating grass.

Chapter 4 : FoodHorses love to eat. First, horses eat grass and hay. For example, they do this to get their fiber. Secondly, when eating grass in the wild, horses eat for up to fifteen hours a day! For example, this is called grazing. Next horses eat oats. For example they have oats along with hay or grass for breakfast and dinner. It’s interesting what horses eat.

Chapter 5 : GroomingIt is important to clean and groom your horse. First, people use curry combs on their horses. For example, curry combs are used to remove dry mud. Next, sometimes horses groom each other. For example horses use their nose and teeth to groom each other. Finally, horses enjoy being groomed. For example, it feels like a massage. Those are the thingsYou will need to do when grooming a horse.

Chapter 6 : SleepingIt’s interesting how horses sleep. First, when horses sleep they lie down. For example, they lie on their side and stretch out their legs. Secondly, when horses nap they stand up. For example, they stand up because they need to be ready to run. Finally in the wild hoses sleep in groups. For example these groups are called herds. That’s how interesting horses are.
