Some homeless people actually are alcoholics or drug

abusers.

Some homeless people actually are alcoholics or drug

abusers.

A lot of the homeless population are retired veterans.

Many are also young children.

Unfortunately thousands of homeless people have know place to sleep and the shelters are usually over crowded.

People sleeping in front of a Church downtown Houston. Handicap person has wheelchair covered in hopes on

know one taking it.

Myself helping a homeless man and his family in front of the Church by buying them food because as we passed by

taking pictures they said they were really hungry.

Feeling good that I helped a hungry family.

Sadly not so many will be fortunate to have someone to

bring them warm food on a cold night.

Downtown Houston is constantly building around areas the homeless normally sleep, forcing them to sleep behind

buildings in darker areas and puts them at risk for getting arrested for trespassing.

During the day time a lot of the homeless usually just hang on the streets, usually because most shelters are pretty full

during the day

Homeless guy asking for change, they are seen almost on every corner near the freeways

a lot more frequently now.

Due to the Downtown Houston's constant expansion, many of the homeless are forced out of the areas near

building projects.

The expansion is causing the homeless to relocate into neighborhoods. This man here suffers from mental illness and has escaped mental institutions several times and so his mother gave up on him and all he does now is walk the neighborhood talking to himself and sometimes run down

the street screaming.

This is just a picture of a few homeless people sitting nearby buildings during the day.

Unfortunately the population of the homeless is increasing rapidly and the streets continue to flood of homeless

individuals. The cost to the public would decrease by 79% percent if they were provided stable housing.

This is the Salvation Army, one of the many shelters here in Houston that help assist homeless Residence. In

addition, the cost of shelters is much higher vs supportive Housing.

Here is also The Star of Hope Shelter available for Women. In addition, shelters do not provide stability

because they are not available during the day.

Here is a healthcare center is government funded to support the homeless that offers them assistants for any

medical needs, such as mental illnesses or substance abuse.
